Carry on luggage

I am confused by the size of bags ppl bring on planes anymore. All shapes and sizes. One thing is consistent though, the shoving whatever it is into the cargo bin. There is always one person that refuses to check & insists on cramming. Of course the bin finally shuts. It is this very bin that will not reopen to allow you pass & exit your plane. I know this is constant on every flight yet I still let it bother me. Do you guys know these people? Are you one of these people yourself? If so, please explain...actually don't explain, just start checking your bags. Thank you & good day.
